While I agree with most of Mr. Jacobsen's post, I object to his
characterization that the Green vote was a repudiation of the DFL
machine.  First of all, there is no DFL machine, as has been established

on this list.

Secondly, IMHO most of the Green signs were probably found in yards of
people like me -- people who were not only voting against the actions of

their current council member, but also FOR an individual who they
thought was a superior candidate.  I know in Ward 2 the two candidates
were both men of honor, both with great skill sets, albeit different
ones.  Speaking only for myself, doing anything "cool" would be totally
out of character for me -- according to my children. ;o)
