In the Upper Peninsula mining town of Calumet, they took the utility aspect of the
library seriously when it was built in the last century. Public bathing amenities
were included on the lower level for those who didn't have their own facilities at
home. Would anyone consider the possibility of including such services in our
downtown library to meet real needs today for those who still don't have their own
bathing facilities? It could be a genuine service to the community (and library
patrons) if our affordable housing crisis really hasn't been fixed! And think of the
benefits for bike commuters!
