"Based on the recently published 2000 Census Supplemental Survey, Minneapolis is ranked #1 in the country for bicycle commuting with an estimated average of 5,366 people riding to work each day on a bike. That is a 2.63% mode share. Sacramento, California ranks #2 with a 2.59% mode share, and Portland, Oregon ranks #3 with a 2.25% mode share. We should be particularly encouraged considering are relatively inclement weather. There's an action item on the original message having to do with legislation at the state level to fund bike lockers and changing facilities, but it didn't seem Minneapolis-specific.
