Last spring I witnessed two crows savagely attacking a live robin on the ground. This was in the front yard of a home on Lyndale Avenue. We've all seen crows feasting on roadkill and other carrion, but I had never seen them killing a live bird. I know it's possible that the robin was injured before the attack, but I have to admit it was a disturbing site to see on a beautiful spring day.
Another interesting crow siting was on a winter day at sunset I was returning home (this was when I lived in Whittier) and paused to watch as literally hundreds of crows flew overhead - all traveling from west to east. It was a steady stream that seemed like it would not end and it made me wonder where they hung out during the day and to where they returned night.
