Scott Person's claim that I am inconsistent in salary votes is befuddling. Along with Joe Biernat, I did NOT vote to raise the council member salary at a time when the city faces staggering budget problems. When faced with the option to raise a salary of the mayor's staff 17%, I voted no. I will continue to not support salary increases during the city's hiring freeze.
Most ominous are Joe Barisonzi's comments: "the record should show that councilmember Schiff did not stand by the Mayor or the agenda for change when the time for rhetoric had passed and the votes were taken." I can tell that the scorecards are being written up already. Any new councilmember who has their own vision for progress and change will be counted against THE agenda for change: Barisonzi's.
