I didn’t say anything at the time, because I thought well of the mapping effort and the nifty visual appeal. For the record, however, none of our 40 public housing highrises made the map, not even Charles Horn, whose three 22-story towers dominate the skyline and the north end of the Lyndale neighborhood in what was then Lisa’s Tenth Ward. Minneapolis has one of the best-run Public Housing Authorities (PHAs) in the United States with a real estate value that MPHA Executive Secretary Cora McCorvey estimates to be in the range of 900 million dollars and we didn’t make Lisa’s map. Oh, well. De mortuis and all that. I know the Rybak administration has a good appreciation of the significance of MPHA’s assets and capacities. We residents pull our weight and have good working relationships with the world in our vicinity, so no harm done. Other than that omission – and of course lots of features couldn’t be included, not just our digs – a great campaign piece that richly deserves its award.
