Hi all,

I testified today at the legislature in favor of
H.F. 2796, a bill affecting the potential for a
new state-of-the-art asphalt plant in Phillips.

The bill was approved unanimously by the House
Local Government & Metropolitan Affairs committee.
The first Senate hearing is scheduled for Thursday.

This bill will bring a smarter way to do business.
We can save tax payers millions and have a cleaner
environment.

The bill authorizes the city of Minneapolis to enter
into discussions with a private entity for a joint
asphalt plant. Currently, there are two asphalt plants
in Phillips.

By reducing the number of asphalt plants from two to
one, we will see greater efficiencies and a decrease
in air and noise pollution.

Thanks to neighborhood activists Carol Pass,
Michael Krause and others for their work on this and
thanks to Reps. Davnie, Clark, Gray, Walker, Skoglund
and others for their co-sponsorships!
