Interesting commentary on youth soccer in Minneapolis at:
http://www.startribune.com/stories/1519/1614335.html
The author captures some of the same feelings I had after coaching youth soccer for
seven years.
In a similar vein, I'm now coaching a novice team of mostly Minneapolis women. I'd
like to see if it's possible to link with other novice to intermediate women's teams
in Minneapolis, rather than chasing all over the metro area in the bigtime leagues.
We've enjoyed several scrimmages against a Prospect Park team. Are there other
women's teams out there that would like to scrimmage or even form a small Minneapolis
league? If so, please contact me offline. We started about 18 months ago, and we're
now playing in an intermediate league at the Midtown Y. Maybe a third of our players
had some organized soccer experience before this team. We range in age from mid-20s
to over 50, although late 30s to early 40s is probably the norm.
