There are a few rules-of-thumb that We should all adhere to...for example...'If You are pulled over on a traffic-stop, and the Officer is wearing those fingerless gloves, be awfully damned Respectful'.
A couple of years ago, I saw a White Cop pull over a Black Man in Our Fair City. I stood by, expecting a 'Rodney King'
incident....automatically puttin' the Cop in the Bigot's seat...observing in case I would be needed in court one day.
Backup arrived, then more backup.... and I knew this was what I thought it was...Racial harrassment.
After the driver was cuffed, Officer One reached under the drivers' seat of the stopped vehicle. He pulled out a Freakin'
Scary-looking machine-gun. I, in My Stupid (Note the upper-case 'S' in 'Stupid') Indignance, had assumed dead Wrong.
(Note the Italicized, Upper-Case 'W' in 'Wrong')
The machine-gun being off-the-street is comforting...and the Guy who carries it around being off the street is even more
comforting.
My point is, (Though it may Truly Disgust many Folks).....That We must be very careful before We put scarlet letters
'E' for EVIL' on our Police Officers' foreheads. It is a damned tough job, and one that doesn't get enough Graditude from
us Citizens, sometimes.
Proper Minneapolis-style would be to appoint a citizens' review-board to oversee the 'regular' citizens-review-board, overseen by a civil-rights-commission of citizens overseen by the official civil-rights commission
overseen by the state department of civil-rights overseen by the state commission to oversee overseers in general.
Just an idea, but I think it would work.

    Mister John Fenner
    Longfellow 'hood,
    Glorious Minneapolis.
(I shall raise My Three Motherless Kids here....and, having seen America from head-to-toe,
    shall never leave for long).
