Tim, Ken and all, I would just like to close the conversation of 36th and Grand as being a potential site for housing. It is not a site being considered for housing by the Lyndale Neighborhood Development Corporation (LNDC), now or ever. It is one of the most successful community gardens in our neighborhood. It has a long rich tradition, has enthusiastic ownership by residents of both Lyndale and Kingfield. A continued commitment to the use of this open space is an area which has a lot of rental buildings has been reconfirmed in every community planning process from 1990 to the present.
The location that LNDC is considering for moving the houses at 3817 and 3821 Nicollet Avenue is a double lot at 3445 First Avenue. While there are other single lots available in Lyndale for new housing, the location, size, and desires of the immediate neighbors make 3445 First Avenue a particularly appealing and financially attractive choice. As David noted in his post, LNDC will make a presentation at the Kingfield Board tonight. I have also talked with Chris Wilson at Project for Pride in Living (PPL). They will also have a proposal. Together we have identified several potential partnership opportunities as well. Ace Hardware and the Kingfield Neighborhood will have several viable options to consider for ensuring that the houses at 3817 and 3821 Nicollet Avenue have an opportunity to continue to provide affordable housing to Minneapolis families. Joseph Barisonzi Boardmember- Lyndale Neighborhood Development Corporation Lyndale, Ward 10 PS: Last Wednesday I attended the Kingfield Neighborhood Association's Redevelopment Committee where there was a thoughtful conversation about parking solutions for the commercial node and for the Nicollet Corridor. I also know that Councilmember Dan Niziolek has talked with Planning, Licensing, and MCDA about pulling together a workshop on overlay parking districts. His goal is to have this workshop bring together appropriate city departments with business and neighborhood interest to develop comprehensive parking solutions for the business nodes along Nicollet Avenue. The first would be for 38th and Nicollet. ken avidor wrote: >>From Tim Connoly's post; > >"The committee struggled with the decision.
