For fun and to spur discussion, I've created a "redistricting geek"
website where you can view some theoretical plans that conform to the
city's basic legal requirements (contiguous wards and within 5% of the
average ward population).

The plans are meant as suggestions - the start of discussion and
hopefully refinement! I hope if you get a sense of what can be done,
hopefully you'll have a better idea of what should be done.

I tried two basic concepts: keeping wards the same within (homogeneous)
and making them more diverse by income and race (heterogeneous).

The basic goal I established was trying to avoid neighborhoods split
between 2 or more wards. This might not be your goal - but I wanted to
see if it could be done within the rules and logic. The answer is, yes,
many different ways!

The wards were all drawn without regard to partisan benefit or where
incumbents live (since I only know where 2 council members live, I'll be
curious who I threw together!)

Feedback welcomed and encouraged - send it to me, or to the list if you
think it worthy. I'll post comments to the site
