Wow, thanks for the info. Heretofore I'd bought into "the guy" theory, but considering I was working for the HPC at the time and with all the intrigue I and the planners were up against with other projects, I should have known better...You're right, the story is specious.
Or maybe I was in denial, because we were all so dedicated to Dania Hall, and so excited about it, and everything had gone like clockwork to that point, that I wanted to believe the "flicked cigarette" story. If key witnesses weren't interviewed nor an honest investigation done, that's atrocious. And the fact that it's yet another suspicious story among so many others stinks, too. I also think it stinks that we have only two Preservation Planners in the Planning Department to shoulder the burden for a city of this size, but I've been complaining about that forever.
