The new Planetarium & Space Discovery Center, which is to be located in the new central library in Minneapolis, will be among the country's most advanced science education facilities. Combining state-of-the-art technology, hands-on learning and a staff of astronomy educators, the new Planetarium & Space Discovery Center will take visitors on a educational adventure to the far reaches of space. Students and families will return to Earth transformed by the immensity and beauty of our universe.
The 49,000 net square foot Planetarium & Space Discovery Center will be among the top planetariums in the country, comparable to the New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago facilities. Minneapolis' new Planetarium & Space Discovery Center will provide a much needed venue for expanding and developing Minnesota's inquisitive minds.
Turn stargazers into star travelers...
A 70 foot, 250-seat planetarium theater with a fiber-optic star projector is capable of replicating a vivid night sky filled with 9,000 stars. Combined with a full-dome projection system the theater will turn stargazers into star travelers as we voyage through our solar system, the Milky Way Galaxy, and the universe beyond.
