-----Original Message----- From: David Strand I see no shame with an association with medical marijuana use. Several Minneapolis legislators are cosponsors of state legislation that would allow for medical marijuana use. ...
AIDS patients, glaucoma sufferers, cancer patients, and many others are said to benefit from medical marijuana. I know that Rep. Martin Sabo is a cosponsor of the States' Rights to Medical Marijuana Act HR 2592 in the US congress. [TB] Minnesota has long been a leader in medical advances. If only 2 of our local legislators want to continue those advances, the question should be "where are the others hiding?" Many products are used for their health benefits that would otherwise be illegal. While I'm not convinced that marijuana is more dangerous that some other common legal every day products, I certainly see no reason why the medical community should be prohibited from using a treatment that works. Rep. Sabo, Kahn, Biernat and any others should be commended for their efforts to make much needed treatment available to their constituents. That communities where initiative and referendum is an option have been whole heartedly in favor of such proposals demonstrates a public desire. We hear constant demands for medical care and affordable prescription drugs, this is a way to make some of that care available without high cost equipment and hospitalization. I rejoice in seeing are elected officials being leaders in this area.
