I have read that one of the ways the Minneapolis School District will close their budget hole is by restricting school choice. I've heard some talk that the policy may affect kids who have already received their assignments for next year - that those assignments might be retracted and some kids sent to a school closer to home.
I'm trying to find out if this is true; we live in an open area (no community school) and my son was recently assigned to Burroughs. We're fine with that - it was one of our choices - but the idea that the assignment would undone is a little rattling. Can someone in the know please tell me: 1. If any students' 2002-03 assignments will be changed? 2. If so, which students under what circumstances? 3. If there is no revocation this year, but school choice will be cut starting next year, how will choices be restricted? Thanks for any help here, David Brauer King Field - Ward 10 _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
