Mayor Rybak's Statement on Federal Investigation

Minneapolis (March 14, 2002) We have no information from the U.S.
Attorney's office about the purpose or the scope of the investigation. We
will fully cooperate with the U.S. Attorney's office if they request our
assistance.

This situation has brought new light onto an area of reform where we are
already focused. We are already working on a package of ethics and
regulatory reforms to ensure there is neither the appearance nor reality of
conflict of interest in how the city conducts its business.

These reforms include revising the city's code of ethics and further reform
of the boards and commissions that regulate licensing. Ethics reform has
been a top priority of mine since I began my campaign, and it will continue
to be throughout my administration.
