There are better ways, I'm sure, than my first attempt here, but for a
casual trip into the world I'm inhabiting these days, check out

Phillips is my chosen focus of interest and these early web pages are
more generalized than the block-by-block scrutiny that mapping software
provides, especially the advanced redistricting package we're using. But
you'll get the drift.

Larger maps tell a more integrated tale (e.g., we know that substantial
Hispanic/Latino and Somali immigration is evident along much of Lake St.
and that can better be displayed on maps much larger in scope than the
close view I used in my Phillips example.

In addition there are salient demographic details available from the
full 2000 Census summary file 1, notably information about households -
rent or own and who lives in the household - important to bear in mind
when looking at tenant-heavy parts of the city like Phillips, Whittier,
and Stevens Square.

Slicing away at the population-heavy wards is not that simple!
