www.members.tripod.com/markusfredric/minneapolismaps Phillips is my chosen focus of interest and these early web pages are more generalized than the block-by-block scrutiny that mapping software provides, especially the advanced redistricting package we're using. But you'll get the drift. Larger maps tell a more integrated tale (e.g., we know that substantial Hispanic/Latino and Somali immigration is evident along much of Lake St. and that can better be displayed on maps much larger in scope than the close view I used in my Phillips example. In addition there are salient demographic details available from the full 2000 Census summary file 1, notably information about households - rent or own and who lives in the household - important to bear in mind when looking at tenant-heavy parts of the city like Phillips, Whittier, and Stevens Square. Slicing away at the population-heavy wards is not that simple!
