Since you seem very impressed with the "new" stadium style aspect, I direct your attention to one of the gems of Minneapolis movie theaters, the Riverview. The Riverview is located at E 38th St and 42nd Ave S in south Minneapolis. It was built in 1948 and has stadium style seating. I believe it always has, I know for certain that it has since the mid 70s when I first started going there as a little person. The price is much cheaper, $2 than the first run theaters (granted this means you may have to wait to see something), they have an e-mail list that they send on Tuesdays with the next weeks schedule, which is great if you are thinking of delaying (even longer since it is a second run theater) seeing a movie until next week. So if you are looking for stadium style seating in the city, go to this fine gem, it is not all stadium style seating it is about half and half, but you can chooes what section to sit in, check out the virtual tour to see what the theater looks like.

Does anyone know if the 15 theaters are going to be the cool stadium style
like the Regal in Brooklyn Center or the Showplace in Coon Rapids? If not,
I have a hard time seeing how they will succeed. If you are going to drop
8 bucks to see a movie, you ought to be seeing it in the stadium style
theaters. More and more of them are showing up in the Metro and I would
imagine that Minneapolis would have a hard time attracting people downtown
for a movie if the seats are as close together as the Mall Of America ones
are.
Those stadium seating theaters are in Coon Rapids, Eagan, Brooklyn Center
and I believe there is one in either Saint Louis Park or Plymouth. I live
in Minneapolis, but I would drive to either Coon Rapids or Brooklyn Center
to see a movie if the price was the same and the seating is much more
spacious in the suburbs.
