FYI-

As a neighborhood micro-eco-entrepreneur from Minneapolis, I would like to encourage people on this list to catch the "Environmental Journal" on channel 45 tomorrow at 11 AM.

I don't get cable, so don't know if channel 45 is actually "45" on cable - but perhaps avid and skilled cable-users do know.

About Earth Friend

About 2 years ago, the dissonance between my unsustainable urban lifestyle and my personal convictions caught up with me.  I remeber looking at my kids one day, looking at the car, and thinking something like:  I don't want my kids breathing the pollution the car makes, so I won't make it any more."  To make a long story short, I began to design and live out a sustainable urban lifestyle.

My work is a part of that design.  I mean to generate as little pollution as possible, and to be as neighborhood and community friendly and involved as possible.  It is a part of my effort to evolve a fully sustainable lifestyle within the city.  This summer, we will begin our own organic garden - for family food, and perhaps by next summer for "garden-to-market."

I also intend to install solar water heat, solar and/or wind power, and rain collection and greywater systems.  I have much to learn about these things, and also much to learn about how to develop these according to city codes and such.  However, I believe new micro-eco-enterprises could provide expert education, installation, and maintenance service for such earth-friendly and human-scale infrastructure changes in Minneapolis.

Currently, my wife and I are starting what can best be described as the "Twin Cities Sustainable Transportation Co-op."  That's a mouthful.  We're working on a shorter, catchier name!  By this summer, we hope to provide the first neighborhood-based sustainable transportation co-op in Minneapolis.  As a working pilot project, this will not only provide affordable (sliding-scale fee?) and sustainable tranportation, but will serve as a model for others.

We are putting ourselves on the line to "be the change we want to see" (Ghandi) in Minneapolis, and we encourage others to join us!

At any rate, check out the Environmental Journal tomorrow morning if you can!

-Cheers!
