As a 26 year ECCO resident, I like the new plan for Ward 10. It relates to the other communities that I feel connected to.
However, I feel ECCO have very little connection to the Southwest communities that are part of Park District 6. We have huge areas of NO housing (Lakewood Cemetary, Lake Calhoun and Wm Berry Road) that physically remove us from any connection to this area. Wouldn't it make sense to move ECCO into District 4 if it still meets the required numbers? Also, splitting a neighborhood can work if both elected reps take responsibility, which is more of what I have seen in recent years. In the South Hennepin area, where my business is located, having 2 city council reps has had it's challenges, but has worked well, overall toour benefit. However, MANY years ago, when ECCO was split into 2 Park Districts (20 years ago, we used to be in 2 precincts), neither Park Board Commmissioner seems to take much interest in our concerns.
