The redistricting plan received quite a bit of attention tonight at the Whittier Alliance Annual Meeting. Many found it interesting to say the least that the commission would recommend that such a small fraction of the neighborhood be chopped out and placed in another political ward.
What I personally find to be a travesty in this plan is the recommendation to cut Phillips up into three political wards. I was even more surprised to see that Dean Zimmerman would endorse such a move in his own plan. I have talked to several of the commissioners and have been told this idea was the brainchild of the DFL representatives on the commission. Is that true?
