Bert Black:
Rep. Kahn's bill has no Senate companion that has met deadlines and so it is unlikely to pass, which is too bad, as we would then save the expense of a new election. As far as the Greens, I don't know whether this benefits them or not - I suppose it depends on whether they do well in the 02 legislative races in the city. [TB] Except that what she ended up doing is amending it onto another bill from the floor. The bill passed with the amendment so its now in conference committee. It's not dead yet. As for court ordered elections, it is my understanding that new elections were ordered in Bloomington after one of their redistrictings. I don't know what year or when they went to 4 year council terms.
