There are a variety of large housing developments in
the works for Franklin Avenue right now... virtually
all of which involve displacing current tenants and/or
property owners. I believe the one which encompasses
the Free Store area is being handled by AIBDC, whose
offices are nearby. I can't recall the name of the
project off the top of my head.

Surprisingly, the Free Store dislocation has seemed
been relatively uncontroversial to many in the
neighborhood... unlike Peace House just a few blocks
west, which is threatened to be ousted by yet another
development.

Surf the internet for Ventura Village, AIBDC, or Hope
Community for more info, including public meeting
data.

I believe the project is called "Many Rivers". Actually there was a lot of
discussion about the displacement of the Free Store at the Ventura Village
Meetings when Many Rivers was negotiating its ideas. If I recall, the
project was at one time talking about reserving some space for The Free
Store when it is complete. I don't know if that is still the case or not.
Anyway, we actually had a 14th, 15th and 16th Ave block club meeting with
the Many Rivers Developers to work on some of the issues of height,
traffic...etc. Although I do not support them because they plan to knock
down three old houses, they have been pretty receptive to community input
and concerns. As I said, don't' know if the Many Rivers development still
has the free store in its plan as it did at one time.
