Hi Folks:

I spoke during open time at the Park Board meeting tonight. I made the
point that:

Urban Ventures is an organization that by their own literature says:

* The goal of Leadership Development is to develop students who by
their senior year in high school are so committed to Jesus Christ that they
can survive and thrive in any environment.

* [Clients of UV] come to Urban Ventures for Bible Study,
tutoring and meals.

* [Clients of UV] are targeted by the Leadership
Development staff for Bible study and discipleship, Scripture memory

In addition I mentioned:

Urban Ventures claimed a partnership with the Minneapolis Park Board at
their recent meeting to promote the Colin Powell Youth Center on March 19.

In addition I mentioned UV's anti-gay attitudes towards the Gay and Lesbian
citizens of Central. I mentioned that the Central Neighborhood has one of
the highest populations of Gays in the city.

After my speech, John Erwin from the Park Board and Marie Hauser both came
out to talk with me. Marie mentioned that Urban Ventures sometimes
exagerates things -- and that the Park Board merely has UV providing
referees for Park Board sponsored soccer games. However a Park board staff
member (don't recall the name, but she is in charge of partnerships) got
the information from me, and she told me that this was called a
"partnership" with the Park Board. Obviously, Urban Ventures was implying
a much bigger relationship than they seem to have with the Park Board.

John Erwin thanked me for mentioning this -- he was unaware of the baggage
Art Erickson and UV carries in Central. He was also wondering whether UV
puts out any written materials that claim the Minneapolis Park Board as a
partner.

the room, turn the channel, express a different opinion, etc., but the
world is full of idiots, and probably always will be." --Article II of the
