Why is it that the Police Reserve doesn't suppliment the Police Department in duties
that doesn't require a sworn officer to do? I understand that the Police Federation
is concerned that the Police department might use the Police Reserve to the point
where jobs are taken away.

However in other cities, the police reserve enhance the police department in ways that
they are a pool from which they can use to pull from in order to fill the ranks of
officers but are limited to the number of reserves that are on duty and have strict
guidelines to which they must follow.

There are a handful of states that also have armed police reserve officers. In these
states there are even tighter guidelines that a reserve officer must follow or even be
partnered up with a sworn officer. In those states, they go through the same training
as a sworn officer, the only difference is that they are volunteers or even retired
officers.

With fear of retribution from anyone in the organization that has access to this
forum, I feel the need to voice my frustration someplace where it is heard. I know
that there are a few citizens that will read this with great concerns, however I
suggest to you, the reader, to research this subject before expressing a negative
opinion and weigh both the positive and negative sides to this topic.
