Craig, thank you for correctly identifying the main corridor of the
Northside, West Broadway. The bakery at the corner of West Broadway and
Irving Av. N., however, is ButterRoll Bakery, Donny Petros, proprietor. And
his father before him, for over 50 years. Currently Donny is finishing up a
major facade improvement inspired by a car smashing into the front and side
of his premises. The driver having been shot 5 or 6 times around West
Broadway/Lyndale was in a big hurry to get to North Memorial Hospital.
Lookin' good, Way to go Donny

Unfortunately, that is also Ground Zero of: Crime Scene 24/7 Crime Seen 24/7.
And it has been so busy: Between James Ave N along West Broadway to Irving
Av. N. then one block north to 21st And Irving, east along 21st to 1402 21
Av. N.

We currently have an Open Street Fair of Drugs; 20, 30, 40, gang soldiers
working, working, working to sell you a drug. Wide Open. And dangerous. I do
not need to be clairvoyant to tell you there will be blood in the street here
this summer. I am certainly looking forward to some nice warm weather and
sunshine this spring. I am not to good about "ice out", but I know spring has
sprung when my corner fills up with drug sellers and their clients.

I invite all List members to drive up the old Avenue and have a look at the
brazen drug selling if you do not have this type of thing going on in your
Neighborhood. Look and Learn. That is what are neighborhood children do. I
have not seen RT yet, rolling up his sleeves and helping us turn this Avenue
around. I wonder if he might think the new DT ward will be his ward. Maybe it
will be. RT, I'm still waiting for the fun bike ride with ya. You changed
schedulers and West Broadway slipped behind the desk, again.

Keith says; I did speak up for Wirth Parkway as a mega multi-destination
many times here. For safety's sake; the more visitors, the merrier. I welcome
new programs at the Park. I am saddened though, that I am unable to get My
Mayor interested enough in West Broadway av. safety issues to make some
observations there. And take some initiative there. I called 911 at 5 PM to
report 35 drug sellers lined up and congregating between Bro./Irving north to
21st av. and around the corner to the drug house at 1402-21st av. (next to
the Broadway elementary school playground). There were also pit bulls present
and a guy offering car stereo gear out of his trunk. A real comfort zone for
the thugs and their customers. But not the decent neighbors who are toughing
it out for now.

I invite my Mayor to take a little bike ride with me. I would enjoy marveling
at the natural beauty of Wirth Lake, the Quaking Bog, The last faux stone
remnants of the long gone amusement park and other wonders on and off this
glorious Parkway with him. Then I will invite him to a most unique and
awesome wonder just a few short turns of the bike sprocket away. The deepest
valley in the whole North West quadrant of this city. A spot so low that some
people who have gone there are never seen alive again. Some people he will
see there, if he pals along with me, are dead and do not even know it. This
mini-Death Valley is not for a "slow skier", but the mayor can get in and get
out. All he will want or need is a quick look. Unlike the honest men, women
and children who must reside there, day in and day out, at West Broadway and
Irving av. N.
