Keith asks:

> David Brauer, you are proud of WHAT in the DFL?

Keith, you and I know there are slumlords out there. Does that mean
you're not proud of being a landlord? Certainly not. Most of the good
landlords I know hate the bad ones in their profession, and many work to
assure their demise.

Likewise, the DFL has made many bad decisions and featured many craven
decision-makers. I guess I am proudest of a persistent group of DFLers
within the party who have worked *for years* to reform the worst
vestiges of our party, and - despite our recent minority status - broke
through this year (with the help of those from other parties).

And this is not to slight members of other or no party, but most of us
agree that Minneapolis is a pretty great place to live. It's not
perfect, it's not fair, it could be better...but it's happened on the
DFL watch. The party has increased citizen involvement, built respect
for a community's role in the civic sphere, expanded civil rights to
gays and lesbians, helped preserve a healthy Downtown with many healthy
neighborhoods....

I welcome the Greens' emergence; the proof of their competence and
superiority will be in the pudding. Maybe someone else will come on the
scene and knock us off; I welcome that, too, and might even join them
under certain circumstances. But for now, no other party can claim these
achievements - none.

Remember, my full quote was "proud but not slavish" DFLer. I stand by
those words.
