Press advisory from the Office of Mayor Rybak:
"Mayor Rises to Protect City Dough"
In the wake of the Krispy Kreme invasion, Mayor R.T. Rybak has launched
a "Hole-y War" to defend the corner bakery and identify the best doughnut in
the city of Minneapolis.
Mayor Rybak will announce the citywide challenge at a joint press
conference with Police Chief Robert Olson at Mel-O-Glaze Bakery and Donut
Shop, 4800 28th Av. S. Friday May 1 at 9:15 a.m.
Mayor Rybak will invite bakeries from throughout the city to bring their
best doughnuts to the competition, which will be judged by Minneapolis
Police Officers. The Mayor is calling an emergency ad-hoc meeting of the
City's Official Doughnut Tasters next Thursday morning at 9 a.m. in the City
Council Chambers to sample the doughnuts.
"I'm especially pleased that the competition will be judged by
Minneapolis' finest, some of the foremost experts in the field of doughnut
tasting," Mayor Rybak said.
Chief Olson added: "I think it would be unprofessional for me to comment
before the contest." -
-----------------------end of release
Please help us spread the word. The competition is open to all doughnut
makers in the city. Contestants are asked to bring their doughnuts to the
City Council chambers 30 minutes before the competition. It is suggested
that entrants contact the council member for your ward in advance.
