A festive grand opening celebration will showcase the renovated Linden Hills Community Library, 2900 West 43rd Street, this Saturday, May 18, from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony at 1:00 p.m. will kick off the grand opening festivities. Mayor R.T. Rybak will be on hand, along with Library Board President Laurie Savran, Councilmember Barret Lane and others, to offer brief remarks. Following the short program will be entertainment and activities for the whole family, including music by the Yo Jimbo Jazz Quartet; an appearance by �Edith Frost,� the first librarian at Linden Hills Library (a.k.a. Rhea Sullivan); storytelling by students from Lake Harriet School; a discussion of the creative process with librarian Ann Christensen, architect Francis Bulbulian, and artists Phil Daniel and Shawnee Langworthy; and a variety of presentations on local history topics.
