I think you're remembering the Aquatennial Parade past Loring Park -- the
torchlight version. I, too, remember this growing up. We kids went with my Dad
and my maternal Grandmother who lived downtown at the Minneapolis Club (she was
the Executive Housekeeper -- this was back when women were not allowed to come
in the front entrance or to be there unaccompanied by a man, and they still
called the "help" colored. Thank heavens times have changed!)

I distinctly remember going to both versions of the parade -- the torchlight
started in Parade Stadium and then went on through the streets of downtown, and
the Grande Day Parade took the same route past Loring Park. I distinctly
remember the great number of sidewalk vendors, a popcorn wagon, and the
beautiful swans on Loring Pond.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
