Speaking of Minneapolis history, I want to invite all to come see and use
the resources of the "Minneapolis Collection" at the Minneapolis Public
Library.

The Minneapolis Collection is certainly one of the city's treasures. Imagine
175 file drawers filled with clippings, booklets, brochures, flyers, and
other materials arranged by subject. This is a phenomenal resource covering
biographical information, buildings, business firms, churches, clubs and
organizations, lakes, neighborhoods, parks, schools, streets. The files are
augmented by photographs, books, newspapers, maps, trade catalogs,
manuscripts, and archives. These materials are available to all, and can be
accessed on the third floor of the Central Library, 300 Nicollet Mall.

In addition, we are making our collections widely available through the Web.
Within a few short weeks, we will offer a completely searchable website of
10,000 items from our historical photograph collection. Meanwhile, take a
look at our website on the History of Minneapolis at
<http://www.mplib.org/history/>, providing text, photographs, weblinks, and
recommended books and other pointers to information on an array of local
history topics. Also check out some of our other Web resources, such as
"Researching a Minneapolis House or Building" at
<http://www.mplib.org/research_house.asp> and the beautiful sketchbook of
Seth Eastman for some of our earliest history
<http://www.mplib.org/eastman/>. Hope to see you or hear from you.
