The disorder continues.
(Drugs, Hookers and Murders everywhere)
Will the public ever become outraged?
What a difference from 50 years ago.
What did we do wrong?
How can we regain order in the inner city?

Subject: [Mpls] MDC/Most Dangerous Corner/22 & Irving N./Crime Scene

Executed in the street 11AM today/Stone throw from last week's street
murder

"Keith, Keeeiiiiith!" Choi, of Choi's Garage, yelled to me across West
Broadway at Irving. "Man shot up there..." he pointed up Irving Av. N. Up the
hill with all the drug traffic and the strolling and trolling. Up the hill
with the groups of men, women and children with little to do, good, lots of
time, and little money to do it with. I just thought, "Again?"

All the usual folks gathered; I shmoozed with Tom Lyden of 9 News and told
him of the fresh monuments, nearby to the West on 22nd off Irving, to the guy
that was shot last week. I thought it would make nice footage. Today we had a
bright, very warm, sunny, noontime with a big blue sky and an easy breeze
fluttering the yellow tape strung in a 40 yard rectangle. A couple squads sat
at either end like goal posts for an ad hoc street game, skins versus blue
shirts. Shirts held the field; at the mid point was a dead man. Lying face
up, bare chested and obese in Bermuda length denim shorts with one arm up
above his head. He was executed; One to the cheekbone and three to the chest
at very close rang. The body appeared mostly intact with little pooling of
blood, etc. The shooter, dressed in all black with ski mask on, RAN off after
the execution, I am told. I wonder if his ride split on him?

Big Paul was the street name of the victim. I probably new him by sight as I
have seen all the regs around there and do keep alert. I could not make out
his face from where I stood. "Mac", a local addict who sleeps in cars and
works under them, was finishing a brake job for Big Paul when the shooting
erupted, but "didn't see" anything. "Big's" car was towed and Mac ate that
job. Some evidence (privileged info) was recovered a block away. I will await
tonight's TV news as I hope a suspect was apprehended. By the way, the police
appeared very professional and thorough.

I continued my day in the hood and of course will be hitting it again manyana.
