Due to redistricting, the county commissioners are required to run for re-election in the fall. We have mailed out the official calls, but some have been returned and there may be some confusion about districts.
Here are the upcoming conventions. District 4 (Peter McLaughlin's District): Monday June 10th Powderhorn Community Center 3400 15th Av.S. Registration 6 pm Call to Order 6:30 p.m. District 1 (Mike Opat's District): (this is mostly NW 'burbs but also parts of Mpls) Tuesday June 11th Earle Brown Elementary 5900 Humbolt Av. N. Registration 6 pm Call to Order 6:30 p.m. District 3 (Gail Dorfman's District: Tuesday June 18th Lynnhurst Community Center 1345 W. Minnehaha Pkwy., Mpls. Registration 6 pm Call to Order 6:30 p.m. If you don't know what district you live in, call the county board and they can look up your address. Also, FYI: Juan Lopez, a licensed Peace Officer and minority recruiter for Hennepin County, is challenging Republican Pat McGowan for the office of Hennepin County Sheriff.
