Greetings from the Metropolitan Council! I want to alert all of you to a new Online Forum that began this week about regional growth to 2030. We had great participation from some members of this list last December when we did the State of the Region Forum, and we'd be pleased to have you back, as well as any first-timers. Here's a short promo and the link.
Read on, and thanks, Jeff PLEASE POST, FORWARD AND CIRCULATE Metropolitan Council's 'Blueprint 2030' Online Panel Discussion and Forum The Twin Cities region is a success story, with a high quality of life, strong economy, efficient public services, and a clean natural environment. But success brings growth. How can we maintain and improve our communities as they change and grow? How can we revitalize older areas? Improve ways of getting around? Enhance community identity and sense of place? Preserve natural areas and open space? The Metropolitan Council is hosting an Online Panel Discussion and Forum from June 4-21 to gather public input on the region's future. In conjunction with four Community Dialogues (public meetings) scheduled June 6-13, the information will be used to help shape "Blueprint 2030," a new long-range regional growth strategy now being developed. Online panelists include: Ann Calvert, Mpls. Community Development Agency Jim Erkel, Minn. Center for Environmental Advocacy Curt Johnson, Citistates Group Ted Mondale, Metropolitan Council Ron Rankin, Minnetonka Community Development Kevin Ringwald, Chaska Community Development Stephen Seidel, Habitat for Humanity Barb Thoman, Transit for Livable Communities The Online Forum will be moderated by Griff Wigley. If you have questions about the Forum, please contact Jeff Syme, Metropolitan Council, Office of Communications at [EMAIL PROTECTED] For a link to the Online Forum and more info on the Community Dialogues and 2030 Blueprint, go to www.metrocouncil.org.
