Brian Melendez writes: "I would like to thank Michelle Mensing, Bert Black, Andy Driscoll, and the others whose posts have raised the level of debate about the role of the City DFL Party's endorsements.
A concrete idea like multiple endorsements deserves serious consideration. Any political party, in order to successfully represent any community, must be open to constructive criticism, open-minded self-assessment and reassessment, and internal reform. I am interested in hearing ideas about how the City DFL Party can improve its endorsement process, or open it up so that it attracts more diverse candidates." >From Michelle Mensing: Wow - what a response! As one of the individuals who posted on this topic, I would like to thank Brian for responding with an invitation to explore further the ideas discussed in the posts. Brian suggests that somebody should come up with a proposal for reform and bring it to him. As I mentioned in my previous posts, I am just getting actively involved with DFL politics, so I don't see myself as having enough experience or knowledge to lead an effort. But, if an experienced DFLer (or a few) steps forward to look at ideas for reform, I would love to be involved. I could represent the point of view of somebody who is essentially an outsider, but avid DFL voter. Anyone interested in talking about this?
