I've seen this letter put out by the Police Federation
and addressed to the members of the city council.

John Delmonico claims that ativists ("agitators and
malcontents") like myself have engaged in "Cop
Mcarthyism," refering to the police as thugs and
"occupying army," and have contributed to a dangerous
atmoshpere in which the police find it difficult to do
there jobs, thus making crime more likely and thus
(roughly) jepordizong public "safety."

The real question is are we safe from a police force
which throws firebombs in the apartments of elderly
people (Lloyd Smalley and Lillian Wiess, 1989) Murders
children in cold blood (Abdullah Simmons, 2001; Tycel
Nelson, 1990) and continues to concentrate on
"livability crimes" (the majority of arrests in 2000
were for minor drug offenses) when the number of 911
calls were for rape, aggravated assault etc., sexually
assaults female bicyclists?

Are we safe from people who carry guns that they are
all to happy to use, who do not actually live in our
neighborhoods, but view all of us as problems and
derelects?

Mr. Delmonico, in his letter asks us to name the
thumpers that are still on the force, assuming we
can't. Let's see, there's Sauro, Chaplin, May,
Manhood (on the Park Police)....I can search the
tickets I've recieved and give you badge numbers and
more names, as well as cases that went before the
previous civilian review board

Are we safe from the police? I have heard so many
people say that they'd rather take their chances with
the gangs. Mr. Delmonico, I'm a malcontent because I
was assaulted by your officers and I'm happy that
Mayor Rybak and Council Member Lillegren have given
those like me a forum to "spew" as you put it, for if
it were up to you, I'm sure your force would continue
to harass us, treat us disrespectfully, beat the crap
out of us, and even kill us when it suits your agenda.

It was people like John Delmonico who created
"Mcarthyism." How ironic that he should accuse those
who are speaking out against abuse of power of being
Mcarthyists. Are we safe from the police, for now, I
doubt it.
