The research is already there -- look at the success of the schools with TRUE small class sizes -- the private schools. To say that 17 kindergarteners in a class is small -- which it is compared to 25 as in the public schools --- makes it hard to show a very significant difference. But there is a difference. And if we are only willing as a community to knock it down to 17, then I'll take it. But we should be striving for even smaller classes. Ask any teacher. Diane Wiley
