I am wondering, what money is being referred to here? The alleged stolen 2700 dollars,
or the tens of thousands of dollars it will cost the taxpayers to ajudicate this case?

Having no special knowledge of this incident, I have no opinion as to whether or not
Joe did what he is accused of. But I do know that some of the people who are in
raptures over this are the same people who hassled me in the past. That, and the fact
that a relative of mine was questioned by the FBI in the 50s for a crime she didn't
commit (and "questioned" means exactly what civil libertarians say it means) gives me
pause.

I do not believe in hassling people at their house, esp. when a case is already under
investigation. I won't kick a man when he's down.

Whoever people voted for, and whatever people think, and however this turns out, this
is a tragedy for the Third Ward. Who replaces Joe if he steps down? And what guarantee
is there that the same people who are metaphorically yelling "off with his head" won't
do the same to the next candidate? Some of them strike me as not having many friends.

I don't have an opinion as to someone's innocence or guilt when I have no knowledge of
the alleged crime. I don't pretend to know. But I am willing to give Joe at least as
much rights and consideration as Zakarias Moussaoui will receive.
