Phillips Partnership works with individual neighborhood groups and non-profits. It is essentially a large grant-making organization. Unfortunately, the partner with the largest amount of money, Honeywell Foundation, is no longer in Phillips, or Minneapolis for that matter. Wells Fargo is not anywhere near as involved as Honeywell Foundation was as far I have seen.
The Partnership took another blow last year when the ED of Allina Foundation, Mike Christiansen, resigned during the fallout from AG Hatch's audit of Allina. And of course the break-up of Allina has also put a strain on foundation resources. While it still exists, it is a shadow of what it was five years ago. As far as I've ever seen, it has been good for the neighborhoods it has served. Some projects it has funded that I know of: ~ The Joe Selvaggio Initiative - grants & low cost loans to property owners and rehabs and rebuilding of some very rundown properties in the area between the hospitals and the Honeywell complex. The city paid for very nice new retaining walls on lots of properties. ~ Portland Place - complete redevelopment of the two blocks between Portland and 5th Ave. and 26th and 28th St. Very strong owner occupied community. ~ Train to Work - paid training and retention service for local residents in entry level healthcare positions at area hospitals and nursing homes. Basically, Honeywell and Allina decided that since they weren't going to move, it was in their interests to make the neighborhood a nice place tio live. I don't think they ever solicited money. I think they just spent money by making grants to non-profits I'm sure there are others. If you contact Peter McLaughlin, I'm sure they could give you a rundown.
