If residents in Minneapolis like the idea of having city expenses be at least somewhat in line with city income and our current financial situation, then we may need to get on the phone and let the jurisdictions like the Park Board know that. I for one truly value our park system and I hope there will be a time in the near future where we can continue to grow our amenities. But, we need to consider our current finances and be focused on moderation and maintainance of our assets, not expansion. I'm certainly glad to see the Council leadership and the Mayor attempting to deal with the city's finances with as much scrutiny as they would likely deal with their personal budget. It would be nice if the other Boards would do the same.
