As I have perused the diagram of the proposals to
widen Lake Street from the existing 78 feet (including
sidewalks, excluding boulevards) to 133 feet
(including sidewalks), provided by SEH to Tom Johnson
and the PAC, I don't find ANY bike paths.

When widening a street from four lanes to seven lanes,
it seems prudent to allow space for bikes. I know the
greenway is only a block north, but that doesn't help
if your destination is one of the proposed "retail
condos" in the new Lake & Nicollet development.
Busses exist on the current version of Lake Street,
and continue to exist in the new version. Since
restoring light rail service on Lake Street is
probably a long way off, it seems like a no-brainer to
at least accomodate bike traffic - maybe even make an
elaborate interface with the greenway and the
newly-opened intersection.

I call on the Access Project staff, PAC, & Phillips
Partership to add bike lanes to the Lake Street
proposal - it's the least they can do given the 7-lane
proposal!
