As part of the I35-W Access Project, it has been
proposed to move the ramps at 35th & 36th Street to
38th Street.

Without getting into the vice and virtue of that
proposal, I'll just say that an elaborate and
beautiful bridge was designed to address area
residents' concerns -a bridge that I personally
believe would be a positive asset to any area.

I've heard from a few folks who say that the bridge
design in question was recently pulled from
consideration, but I haven't been able to find out
why, or what the "substitute" will be. Was this a
bait and switch?

I consider the bridge design disappearance to be a
serious development, as the design was a major
mitigation effort that did appear to satisfy, to some
degree, residents in the area.

I mentioned this to Peter McLaughlin a few days ago in
a phone conversation; Mr McLaughlin did not have
specifics at that time either, but indicated he would
look into it.

Peter also noted that when he stated that the access
project was a "done deal", he did not mean that
statement the way it was interpreted by many of us in
the area. At this point, I am willing to take him at
his word, and hopefully he'll be able to work with the
neighbors to find the missing bridge!
