Imagine what it would be like, if you were a Council Member, to receive a
hundred calls a day from complainers, whiners, egomaniacs, and white collar
crooks trying to get their hands on other peoples' property and money.

Watching Mpls government in action reminds me of the birds in my backyard
who gather and squawk until I throw them some crumbs. They've gotten so
lazy they won't fend for themselves anymore.

Here are some efficiency tips that will really help:

1. Remember that what others are doing is NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS unless it's
against the law or you're paying for it.

2. If your neighbor's grass is too long and his yard's a mess, call your
neighbor instead of your Council Member. Better yet, offer to help him
solve the problem.

3. If you have information about a crime, share it with the police.

4. Don't waste time - yours or anyone else's.

5. Don't waste money - yours or anyone else's.

6. If you want someone else's land - offer to buy it. If the owner doesn't
want to sell, forget about it.

7. If you need money to do good deeds, knock on doors and persuade people
to donate to your cause. If no one donates, improve your idea and try
again. If no one donates the second time, forget about it and try something
else.

8. If you want to pontificate about social justice, put your thoughts in
writing and mail them to your Congressperson. The City Council deals with
streets, sewers, parks, and safety. These things are supposed to be
provided to everyone equally - rich or poor.

9. Stop asking for MORE, MORE, MORE until you demonstrate that you can
manage what you already HAVE, HAVE, HAVE. The NRP comes to mind on this
one.

10. If you want to live on the prairie - move to Little Falls.

10. Work on improving yourself. When you reach perfection - you can tell
others what to do.

Our Mayor and City Council have a financial nightmare on their hands. If
you want them to find and excise the cancer that lurks in the bowels of City
Hall - they can't spend all of their time and energy putting Band-aids on
your owies.
