WELCOME
Welcome to the first edition of the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District's
E-Splash electronic newsletter. This is a new improvement over our previous
e-mail notification list, and we hope it will reach a larger and more
diverse audience. In addition to public meeting agendas, we are now
including information regarding MCWD news, projects, and education
initiatives.

Everyone interested in water quality and the associated issues are welcome,
and encouraged, to join this list. PLEASE spread the word and encourage your
friends to register via our web site at www.minnehahacreek.org.

online. Click the following link to download a copy in Acrobat PDF format.

The Water Pro is a new publication specifically focused on the needs of
cities, builders and contractors, developers, agencies and associations. If
you like, you can sign up on the web site to receive the Water Pro via
postal mail.

CANOEING CONDITIONS
Jim Hafner, our Senior Technician and canoeing explorer, reports that the
water flow over the Minnehaha Creek dam is currently at 250cfs with a Lake
Mtka level of 929.9. This level of water flow creates dangerous canoeing
conditions and canoeing is not recommended. Creek maps and canoeing
information is available at http://www.minnehahacreek.org/f-recreation.htm

TWIN CITIES ENVIRONMENTAL PARTNERSHIP (MEP) GRANT PROGRAM
The Metropolitan council has announced the final year of funding for these
grants which cover educational and implementation projects to address
nonpoint source pollution to metro area lakes, steams, and rivers. Grant
applications and details are available from the Council's Data Center
(651-601-1140) or from their web site at www.metrocouncil.org

Sincerely,
The MCWD
