To Those Who Are Interested!

The ski trails committee did a terrific job of organizing, identifying
needs in Theo Wirth Park, and presenting those needs to the Minneapolis
Park and Recreation Board. The ski trails committee presented the
report of suggested improvements to the Minneapolis Park and Recreation
Board at the July 10th meeting. Plus, a significant number of you
e-mailed your Park Board Commissioners about this effort! The
recommendations were referred to the Operations and Environment
Committee for review, study and action.

This same group did a driving tour of the suggested trails with Assist.
Superintendent Mike Schmidt. Many of the suggested improvements do not
require additional funds and will occur starting immediately. Any
improvements that do require additional funds will come to the Board
with a staff recommendation and the approximate cost of the improvements
for a decision at that time.

This process is still open and we are and will continue to be open to
hearing any suggestions! I will let you know when it is on the docket
for discussion at the Board Meeting.

Thanks to all of you who participated so far! The off-road biking group
is also coordinating their recommendations and will hopefully have some
suggestions soon.

Working with all of you who have participated has been terrific! Your
enthusiasm has been great! Thanks RT for helping getting this topic off
the ground with your post and support.

Sincerely,

John Erwin
City-Wide Park Board Commissioner
