If I may respond to the matter of concern regarding Critical Mass, Skyway News, and a stolen bicycle:
Based on the facts posted regarding the recent bike theft, it would take a far stretch of the imagination to conclude that some kid was browsing Skyway News (on its day of publication, no less) and, upon reading the oft recited criticism of Critical Mass, leapt up and darted off to Mr. McHugh's Como haven, only to snake a junker out of his garage. (Not before looking up his address in the phone book, donning black bandana/red star accessories, and waiting for nightfall, of course.) "That'll teach him to mess with Critical Mass (tm)!" (Insert sinister snicker, mischievous chortle, etc.) Next time my bike is missing, I just might have to believe that Mr. McHugh took it, he being so against the motives of the Critical Mass! Of course, a statement such as that would be insulting to Mr. McHugh. In light of that fact, I would imagine that if my bike were stolen tomorrow, it would be just as absurd for me to believe that Mr. McHugh took it in an act of revenge against me for writing this post, as it was for him to believe that a Masser stole his bike in an act of revenge for his lukewarm letter to the editor of Skyway News. (Hi David.) Anyway, most Massers know that the cops themselves are the most likely candidates to snatch someone's ride against their will... (and who knows what acts of revenge will follow that statement!)
