Hi All!

Y'know, renaming streets has failed everytime it's been tried.

Poor Kirby Puckett. After a "wayward" last game pitch (I don't care what he
or anyone sez that it weren't what screwed him) he lost a fortune, half of
his sight, and then piled on himself with a covered-up SUV rollover and the
evaporation of his marriage and endorsements.

But he's still got crappy little street named after him.

Call me an old fuddy duddy, but the crappy names our forebearers put to our
streets work quite well enough, thankyou.

On this side of the stream, we have tried to rename West Seventh and the
Short Line, to name two. New names never took.

Now we are thinking of tinkering with Marshall Ave. Mygod where does it
end? Oh yeah at the Lake Street Bridge (we Saintpaulites never could
convince youse to call it the "Marshall Lake Street Bridge", although we
tried! Get ready for the MLK-Lake Street Bridge!

Are we creating jobs for Public Works employees and Mapmakers?

This whole exercise in street-renaming could be taken to amusing extremes.
I just wish our politicos could focus on more pressing issues....like the
effect of our imminent invasion of Iraq on MPLS oil supplies ;-)))

Cheers!
