MM:  My point was not to absolve the Mayor of responsibility for his use of
the "bullypulpit".  Of course the Mayor should be held accountable for what
he states publicly.  But, I do think we as citizens need to be careful about
the way in which we hold our elected officials accountable for what they
say.  I don't think it is fair to try to suggest somebody's intention in
their words and that is what I saw in many of the posts.

The broader point I was trying to make is that interpreting policy and
actions is alot safer than interpreting words (which is really what this
whole debate about CM Johnson Lee's statement has been about).
