It is friday night in Japan. A seven minute piece about the Mpls
list was part of 70 minute (no commercials) show on e-democracy
broadcast on NHK (the BBC of Japan).

I just received a note from an excited citizen of Japan:

I am watching TV now, in which program I know you.
Your activity is very good.
I would like to do like you in my city.
Thank you very much.

In May, I was invited to Japan to give a speech on e-democracy and
participate in a panel discussion (I earn my living giving speeches
abroad on e-democracy - they actually pay for this stuff :-)). As
part of the panel they showed about five short video clips (ours was
the longest) illustrating e-democracy examples around Japan. For
example the city government in Fujisawa has hosted online discussions
like our for six or so year <http://www.city.fujisawa.kanagawa.jp/>.
They have one column for government hosted topics and another for
open citizen topics - very innovative.

Anyway, people there were very interested the forum all of you have
helped build over the years. So while, this forum hasn't been on
television in our home state at least 125 million people in Japan had
a chance to see Annie Young show off the concession stand at Lake
Harriet!
