On a bike ride Sunday afternoon and passed through Minnehaha Park. The
"little depot" building was open and had a wonderful history lesson from the
volunteer there. Then went across the street to where once had been planted,
only a few years, ago a beautiful area around a pergola. What do you look at
now? Nothing but weeds. In fact, other than mowing grass, it would appear
that little other maintenance is being done.
In Loring park, there are two full time maintenance workers being paid
$45,000 a year each, who appear to do not much more than empty trash
barrels. One look at the playground will attest to what I am talking about.
I'm tired of the MRPB being so proud of their "Grand Rounds" system but
allowing the system to look so run down. If they need to make budget cuts to
what is already built, perhaps they should think really hard about building
new.
